The scholarship recognizes GOTR MA alums who exemplify the organization’s core values and supports continued learning and self-development.

GOTR Western MA was established in 2015. Since then, we have seen incredible growth and have empowered over 11,600 girls using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Now, many of the girls from our early years are young women, navigating adulthood with the tools and strategies learned through Girls on the Run.

Scholarships will be awarded to two alums who particpated in a minimum of one season of Girls on the Run, Heart & Sole or assisting as a Junior Coach. Involvement in school and community activities, as well as three short essays, are also required. Through these scholarships, we hope the Girls on the Run experience will continue to positively impact our past participants for many years to come.

All applicants must:

1. Have participated in a minimum of one seasons in Girls on the Run, Heart & Sole or as a Junior Coach for the Western MA council. 
2. Be eligible for high school graduation during the 2025-2026 academic year.
3. Complete the following application. 
4. Submit an application and all supporting material by Monday, May 5th, 2026 by 5:00pm for the June 2026 award.

Recipients will be asked to provide evidence of acceptance or enrollment to an accredited, post-secondary education program (i.e. community college, college, university, trade school, other accredited career training program) before scholarship funds are disbursed.
